Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe Global Geopark Delegation Heads to Indonesia for the Asia Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium

Between September 2 and 6 the 6th Asia Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium was held at the Rinjiani-Lombok UNESCO Global Geopark (Indonesia) which was attended by more than 800 persons including delegates and experts from geoparks of 30 countries and various related organizations. The Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe Global Geopark delegation included Deputy Director of the Municipal Natural Resources and Planning Bureau Li Jun Member of the CPC Nanjiang County Standing Committee Li Wenrong and persons in charge of management at the Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe Global Geopark.

The Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe Global Geopark delegation appointed representatives to attend the Network Liaison Conference hosted by the Asia Pacific Geoparks Network (APGN) of UNESCO and completed the consultant committee member selection process for the UNESCO APGN.

During the span of the symposium the delegation attended the opening ceremony and earnestly learned from the "Contribution from the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network to Promote Local Community Development and Reduce Geological Hazards" keynote presentation. The delegation actively looked to strengthen communication and liaison with UNESCO experts and other APGN members and endeavored to share experience and learn geopark management and establishment experience. At the same time the delegation sought audiences with leaders of the National Forest and Grassland Administration of China and the UNESCO Global Geoparks network to report on recent endeavors and accomplishments. The Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe Global Geopark delegation used photos leaflets and documentary videos to introduce geological and tourism resources of the Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe Global Geopark to the attending representatives from more than 30 nations.

The Asia Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium is held once every two years as a platform for geopark and Earth resource management and to create Earth heritage for communities and governments. The inaugural Asia Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium was hosted in Malaysia in 2007 and has since then been held in Vietnam the Republic of Korea Japan and China.
