Closing Ceremony of the 9th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks Was Held

On the evening of December 16, 2021 (Beijing time), the 9th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks officially ended at Jeju UGGp in South Korea.

At the closing ceremony, GGN certification ceremony was held, with President Nickolas reading out the new members of UNESCO Global Geoparks from 2019 to 2021. Up to now, there are 169 UNESCO Global Geoparks in 44 countries around the world.

In the 1st Film Festival awards ceremony, the film submitted by Longyan Geopark from China won the second place. And it was announced that the second GGN Film Festival will be held in 2023. In addition, the representative of Youth Forum and the two honorary members of GGN made related speeches. It was also announced that the 10th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks will be held in M'GOUN UNESCO Global Geopark in Morocco in 2023.

During the Conference, representatives from different institutions communicated on popularization of science and education, climate change, geoheritages conservation and other topics, demonstrating the resilience of GGN during the  COVID-19 pandemic. Through participating in the Conference, Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe UGGp broadened the horizons of work, further understood the new concept, new experience and new achievements in geoparks, which played a positive guiding role in the future work. Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe UGGp will continue to adhere to the concept of GGN and constantly achieve better results in protection and development, contributing to the culture and tourism industry of Bazhong City.
