On January 25 2019 Bazhong City of Sichuan held a promotion conference for the brand of geoscience tourism - “Welcome to Bazhong” of China Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe UNESCO Global Geopark actively exploring brand operation models and digging into global geopark brand value.

In order to fully protect inherit and leverage the precious geological heritage resources of Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe UNESCO Global Geopark endowed by nature the Sichuan Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe National Geopark Administration Bureau upholding the development concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" and focusing on the positioning of the characteristic area of “Beautiful Landscape Gallery in Bazhong" have made great efforts to explore and tap the brand effect of the world geopark actively explored the new model of park-enterprise cooperation and authorized Bazhong Qinding Industry Co. Ltd. to have exclusive use of the geoscience tourism brand of China's Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe UNESCO Global Geopark worldwide.

At the promotion conference the organizer introduced the brand connotation development planning and operation ideas of "Welcome to Bazhong" comprehensively displayed a series of agricultural specialty products geoscience tourism products and cultural creative products and signed the Strategic Cooperation Agreement with several financial institutions and state-owned and private enterprises on the spot.

1. Origin

"Welcome to Bazhong" (the Chinese expression literally means “Guest from afar”) comes from an ancient poem full of longing and affection in the Eastern Han Dynasty: "Guests from afar bring me with a colorful plain satin. It is from more than ten thousand miles away which shows my husband’s care for me."

Since ancient times the expression has been synonymous with missing relatives looking forward to distant visitors and expressing joy. In today’s era when the tourism industry is highly developed "Welcome to Bazhong" has been endowed with more broader and deeper connotations - it profoundly expresses the heart of looking forward to customers the joy of welcoming guests the manner of hospitality the wish of inviting guests to stay the feeling of saying goodbye...

2. Connotations

The brand logo is based on the most representative tourist element in Bazhong: the red leaves of Guangwushan which look like red stars highlighting Bazhong’s red culture and also look like an open palm symbolizing the call and welcome of the warm and hospitable Bazhong people to visitors from all over the world and reflecting the main idea of "Welcome to Bazhong". At the same time the landscape of Bazhong mountains and rivers are combined on the surface of a red leaf. The two winding rivers represent the Bahe River that breeds the Bashan people and the famous scenic area Nuoshuihe. The two rivers meet and skillfully form the character "Ba" in seal script. At the bottom of the figure the character "Zhong" is formed by the unique shape of a typical boat in the Bazhong area. Then the word "Bazhong" is formed which has a strong regional recognition.

3. Extended meanings

The main color of the "Welcome to Bazhong" brand logo combines brown representing the earth red representing the enthusiasm orange representing the ripeness in autumn and golden representing harvest; in the text part the main text is the Chinese name of the brand - " Welcome to Bazhong " and its English translation - "Welcome to Bazhong" and the four characters "China · Bazhong" further strengthen the geographical orientation. The whole logo not only embodies the theme of China Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe UNESCO Global Geopark but also organically integrates the cultural and regional characteristics of Bazhong and profoundly interprets the tourism characteristics and cultural connotations of "Beautiful Landscape Gallery in Bazhong". The beauty of form is for the eyes the color is for the taste and the meaning is for the heart. "Welcome to Bazhong" brand logo will become a powerful tool for internal communication and external charm forming a powerful brand magnetic field as described by Confucius "please people nearby and attract people from afar".
